
The Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has reiterated the President’s call on all Ghanaians, especially the NPP in Suame Constituency, to rally behind the government in its quest to reinstate the country back on to the growth path that we experienced between 2017 and 2019 before the advent of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu made the appeal when he interacted with Party Executives in separate meetings at his residence in Kumasi during the 2022 Christmas Festivities.
The Majority Leader re-echoed President Akufo-Addo’s admission that ‘we are not in normal times’, and called on well-meaning Ghanaians to produce some levels of dedication, sacrifice and selflessness to help shore-up the economic recovery processes being undertaken by this government.
In an earlier End of Year Message, the Majority Leader had admonished that, ‘ 25th December symbolizes the entry of Christ Jesus born to reconcile God with Mankind
May this watershed event instil in us sacrifice, selflessness, humility and rededication, especially in these turbulent times, to lead us on to reposition the country’ .
Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, in sharing his widow’s mite with the party faithfuls, further stated that, ‘ admittedly, when times are hard for me, I assume it is harder for you. This is the reason why I deem this gesture most appropriate to ensure we celebrate the Christmas together’. He further revealed how supportive the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Maxwell Ofosu Boakye, has been to this cause by making sure the party executives enjoy the Christmas in a much happier mood. He disclosed the MCE, Maxwell Ofosu Boakye, for the past two Christmas since he assumed office, has been adding half piece of cloth to each packages he planned to give to each delegate’ during the Christmas. He therefore called on all to offer some prayers for him when they appear before their Creator to lay bare their requests.
Various identifiable groups (such as the Sompahemaa Ladies and the Sompahemaa Social Media Group) who have contributed to the success story of the Sompa couple were not left out of the celebrations.
In all, the Majority Leader had extended support to about 1500 delegates, made, mainly, up of Polling Station Executives, Electoral Coordinators, Constituency Executives and Assembly Members of the Suame Municipal Assembly.
Earlier, the Executive Director of the Sompahemaa Foundation (a non-partisan non-governmental organisation), Mrs. Irene Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, had extended similar support to about 2000 vulnerable persons within the Suame Municipality. This brings to about 3500, the number of people supported by the couple to enable them enjoy the fullness of Christ Jesus’ birth, ‘the Christmas’
The Municipal Chief Executive, Maxwell Ofosu Boakye, the Suame Constituency Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Abban Duker Justice, and the Presiding Member of the Suame Municipal Assembly, Hon. Boakye Ansah, on behalf of all, heaped praises on Hon Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu and his wife, Mrs. Irene Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, for exhibiting such highest degree of kindness over the years. They all pledged to continually extend the constituency’s support to the couple in all their endeavors.
The climax of the occasion was when the Majority Leader, Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, joined by his wife, Mrs. Irene Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, and the Suame Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Maxwell Ofosu Boakye, dined with the grassroots party before handing various packages to members of the constituency party.
