Vice Prez Dr Bawumia pays his last respect to Alhaji Bature (PHOTOS)

The Vice President of the Republic Mahamudu Bawumia, this afternoon paid his last respects to Alhaji Bature.

The Managing Editor and owner of the Al-Hajj newspaper was reportedly taken ill a few days ago upon which he was rushed to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and was pronounced dead yesterday at a little over 3pm.

Bature whose sudden demise has come as shocking to many Ghanaians was an ardent critic of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration had practiced journalism for over three decades until his sad death was also an avowed critic of the J. A. Kufour administration. He can best be remembered for his persistent insistence on the fact that ex-Prez. Kufour was in an amorous relationship with Giselle Yarjie out of which twins had come. This was later proven to be false.

He was also very critical of former President Jerry John Rawlings and his wife Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings for not helping Mahama win the 2016 elections.

Per Islamic customs and traditions, Bature was to be interred this today. What was striking was the large crowd of people who had gathered there to bid him farewell.

What was anticlimactic was the absence of the former President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama. The former President was said to have travelled to the Brong Ahafo city of Techiman to embark on a planned Unity Walk.

Critics of the former President are unable to comprehend why the programme could not be cancelled taking into consideration the fact that Alhaji Bature had travelled on the road to the life hereafter a day before the planned event.

To say that the deceased media personality loved Mahama very much would be an understatement, in fact, the man loved the former president to faults, and that was the basis upon which tongues have started wagging as to why Bature was not prioritized over the Unity Walk which could have easily been postponed.

The Vice President and his entourage also expressed the condolences of Prez. Akufo-Addo to the bereaved family and urged them not to keep the Presidency in the dark regarding his final funeral rites.
