Parliament resumes second meeting tomorrow

The second meeting of the first session of the 8th Parliament resumes tomorrow, Tuesday, 25 May 2021 at 10 am at Parliament House, Accra.

The meeting is expected to work on a number of bills, which include Ghana Standards Authority Bill, Exemptions Bill, Consumer Protection Bill, Petroleum Revenue Management (Amendment) Bill and Advertising Council Bill.

The budget performance report in respect of the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the period of January to December, budget performance in respect of the Ministry of Lands and Natural resources for the period January to December 2020 are among the papers to be presented to the house.

A statement from the Public Affairs Department of Parliament also noted that motions for debates will be admitted by the Speaker during this meeting.

“There are also some petitions before the house. Sector ministers are also expected to attend upon the house to answer questions related to their ministries,” the statement said.

The Appointment Committee will also commence its public hearings to vet the President’s nominees for Ministers of State and deputy ministerial positions.

The Public Accounts Committee is also expected to hold its public hearings to examine reports from the Auditor-General’s Department and other related matters.

Other committees will also sit, as part of parliament’s oversight duties.

All COVID-19 protocols, according to the statement, will be strictly adhered to.
