January 16th to 19th set for Late Asantehemaa’s Burial rites

The Manhyia Palace has disclosed that the Burial Rites of the late Queen Mother of the Asante Kingdom, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II will take place from Monday, January 16 to Thursday, January 19, 2017 in Kumasi.

The 13th Asantehemaa will be laid in state at the Asantehene’s Palace, Manhyia from midnight on Monday, January 16 until the forenoon on Thursday, January 19.

In a release signed by Mr. Kofi Badu, chief of staff at the Manhyia Palace, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene will sit in state from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day of the ceremonie to receive homage from sympathisers.

The remains of the mother of His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, will then be moved from the Manhyia Palace at noon on Thursday for a Burial Service at the St. Cyprian Anglican Church, Kumasi.

Her Royal remains will be conveyed to the Bantama Royal Mausoleum after the church service, for the final public traditional rites and wreath laying from whence it will be taken to the Breman Mausoleum for a private final internment.
