2 taxi drivers nabbed for robbery
2 taxi drivers have been arrested by the Wenchi divisional command for robbing a Gold dealer of GHc 50,000 at gun point.
The 2 Suspects, 27 year old Isaac Yaw and 32year old Maxwell Asante robbed the victim, Sumaila Ibrahim on his way from Technician to Banda Nkwanta in the northern region with the help of one other suspect who is now at large.
The Wechi divisional police commander, Acp. Peter Gyimah told Otec FM that his outfit had earlier been informed about a plot by a taxi driver to rob his Gold dealer customer.
According to him, the taxi driver plotted with his 2 accomplices, a taxi driver and an armed robber to robb his Gold dealer customer who had Ghc50,000 in his possession on their way from Techiman to Banda Nkwanta.
Acp Gyimah said, immediately after the robbery, which took only 2 minutes,the victim and the taxi driver came to the station to report the incident but the police having prior knowledge of the crime arrested the taxi driver and questioned him.
The taxi driver upon interrogation admitted the crime and gave the police details of the whereabouts of the other accomplices.
The police were able to arrest the other taxi driver and retrieved an amount of Ghc43,000 from the other armed accomplice who is now at Large.
The 2 taxi drivers are now in the custody of the wenchi Divisional police command.
