No baby missing at Komfo Anokye – Authorities

Authorities at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital have debunked claims by a mother that her baby, delivered at the facility is missing.
Mother of the baby, Abigail Opoku, accuses hospital staff of underhand dealing in the disappearance of her child.
According to Solomon Boakye Ansah, a motor mechanic and father of the missing baby girl, his wife Abigail Opoku was rushed to the hospital in labour on Friday. His wife, according to him gave birth on Saturday night but fell unconscious after post labour complications.
The family got alarmed when the mother of the baby regained her strength on Wednesday and demanded to see her baby only to be told that the baby had died on Monday.
When the family inquired about the whereabouts of the body, they were told another family member whom they do not know had come to sign documents for the baby to be transferred to the mortuary.
The father of the baby, however, claims the mortuary attendants have refused to allow him see the body with the excuse that the fridge has been locked.
But Public relations officer for the Komfo Anokye teaching hospital to Mr. Kwame Frimpong says the hospital is prepared to do a thorough investigation into the matter to prove that no baby is missing.
”We are going to take the family to the morgue to identify the body of the baby and if parents are still not satisfied, we will go ahead with a DNA test to prove that the baby is not missing but dead.”
According to him, Abigail Opoku after being rushed to the hospital gave birth on Saturday but the baby had shallow breathing and died as a result.
