Embrace e-levy for development – Ahafo-Ano South-West DCE appeals

Hon Joseph Frimpong Bonsu, District Chief Executive for Ahafo-Ano South-West

Hon Joseph Frimpong Bonsu, the District Chief Executive for Ahafo-Ano South-west has rallied residents of the community and the public to embrace the idea behind the proposed E-levy by government.

According to the President’s representative, it is always best to seek home grown solutions to tackle challenges in the country.

The E-levy, he noted was a home grown solution to tackle the difficulties the economy was currently going through.

“Unlike the NDC government that borrowed to tackle every economic challenge, the NPP was seeking remedies to the tackle same in the economy by using innovative resource generating policy in the shape of the E-levy”, the DCE stated.

DETAILS:

The DCE stated that while the former NDC government sought solutions from IMF and other Bretton Wood Institutions for solutions to issues,  the NPP wanted to create resources through innovative tax systems.

The E-levy, he mentioned would be a collective contribution from all citizens of Ghana to ensuring that they generate their own form of solutions.

These solutions, he intimated would also be used to tackle job creating ventures as well as infrastructure development.

“The NPP government would not seek to further burden Ghanaians and saddle them with joblessness by going to IMF for relief”, the DCE intimated.

EMPLOYMENT:

Hon Bonsu said the President was committed to using the taxes for development and importantly to create job opportunities for the youth.

With some of the proposed revenue targeted for job creation, the DCE urged Ghanaians to look at that area and support the government to pass the E-levy.

Currently, he noted most government initiatives such as the one district one factory, Youth in Agriculture and many more had yielded job opportunities for the youth.

“More jobs needed to be created and hence the need for all in the country to support the implementation of the E-levy to rake in the necessary revenue for same and for other forms of development”, Hon Bonsu passionately stressed.
