Calmness restored at Asafo Neoplan Station after rival drivers clash

Calmness has finally been restored at the Asafo market and lorry terminal after a clash between G. P. R. T. U who are operators of famous V. I. P buses and the State Transport Cooperation (STC) yesterday 16th October.

Business activities at the Asafo terminal came to a standstill yesterday as drivers and leadership of V. I. P resisted to allow the S. T. C join them at their bus terminal to operate.

It took the intervention of the Ashanti regional minister Hon Simon Osei Mensah, his deputy, mayor of the Kumasi metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Osei Assibey Antwi and other stakeholders as well as the regional police command and other security agencies to calm issues.

A visit by Otecfm’s Kwaku Anane Jnr. who visited the place a day after the clash reported that the activities at place had returned to normal as everyone seems to be focused on their businesses.

Even though leadership of the G. P. R. T. U / V. I. P had denied granting any official interview, an off record interview with OTEC NEWS revealed that they have no plans to allow the S. T. C join them at the terminal although they say they are not scared of competing with the state’s transport.

They however revealed that they will resist any attempt by any personality who tries to play smart by bringing the S. T. C there.

Meanwhile a meeting is scheduled by the leadership of Kumasi city led by the regional minister, chiefs, the security capos and the two (2) parties to find a lasting solution to the matter to ensure peace in the city.
