Authorities of DVLA have mental problem – Drivers

Some commercial drivers are calling for a mental health screening for Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), to determine whether they are experiencing symptoms of a mental health condition.

According to them, recent decisions taken by DVLA looks as if they are mentally deranged.

Their comment comes after reports on social media that the government will soon commence the re-registration of all vehicles plying the country in line with the provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation 2012 and for proper inventory.

The move, which will be done by the Ministry of Transport in collaboration with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), will enable Ghana to obtain a comprehensive inventory of vehicles and to ensure that the right fuels were sourced to fuel them and to save the environment from being polluted by vehicular emission.

Speaking to otec news’ Akosua Agyeiwaa Kodie on this development on Friday, 26th January 2018 the spokesperson for True Drivers Association, Yaw Barimah stated that they don’t think people who have everything correct in their brain will do what the DVLA is doing.

” If am not afraid I will say the authorities of DVLA must go for mental check-up perhaps something is going wrong in their brain that is why they can come out and tell drivers anything they like,” he said.

” You brought new driving license which the Vice President launched recently, you also brought first aid kids and we opposed it and today you said we should re-register our vehicle. Is it not a mental problem that will dictate these?” Yaw Barimah fumed.

” You told us that you will give commercial cars number plate yellow color, private cars white, government cars green and Ambassadors in Ghana red number plates and we accepted, now what is really going on in their mind to take money from drivers,” he quizzed.

According to him, if they succeed in introducing the re-registration of all vehicles commercial drivers will kick against it and demonstrate against the government.
