Over 30 cattle shot dead by some Military Personnel at Kwahu- Farmers
Information reaching otecfmghana.com is that about thirty (30) Cattle have been shot dead by some Military personnel at Kwahu Abetifi in the the Kwahu East Municipality in the Eastern Region at Afram Plains Wednesday morning.
Our sources about Six Hundred and Sixty (660) cattle have been killed in a month in the Kwahu East Municipality by the soldiers.
A Spokesman for Kwahu Cattle Farmers Association known as Mr. Zeko, expressed worry over the incident and called on the government to intervene.
The most annoying part of the incident, according to Mr. Zeko, is that the soldiers after killing the fatten cattle, carry the carcass away.
“As I’m speaking with you , 30 cattle have been killed along the bank of Afram Plains river this morning my some Soldiers from Abetifi. They have been killing our cattle for some time now. About 660 Cattle belonging to us have been killed by by soldiers this month alone. They take away the fatten cattle after killing them”, he told rawgist.com Wednesday morning.
Mr. Zeko denied the assertion that the killed Cattles belongs to some Fulani herdsmen.
“We are not Fulani Herdsmen, we are fishermen, farmers, cattle rearers ”
Petition To Eastern Regional Minster
According to the Spokesman, the association has petitioned the Eastern Regional Minister, Mr.Eric Kwakye Darfour over the incident. He however says the minister has not yet responded to their petition.
