Be professional – Bawumia to police

Vice President Dr Muhamudu Bawumia has urged the Ghana Police Service to continue to maintain high professional standards in their line of duty.

Speaking as guest of honour at this year’s West Africa Security Services Association (WASSA) get-together aimed at taking stock of activities, Dr Bawumia stressed that government is aware of the daunting challenges facing the police administration.

He said it was in that regard that government procured 120 pickups to enhance their mobility in the fight against crime and lawlessness.

On his part, the Minister for the Interior, Ambrose Dery, commended the police administration for their show of professionalism but maintained that the service will not shield any individual within the force whose activities contravenes the law and order.

Reacting to a news item regarding the unfortunate manhandleing of Joy FM’s Latif Iddrisu, the minister denied condemning the police for assaulting the multimedia journalist.

Expressing regret on the assault on the journalist, he entreated the media to be mindful of whom they talk to in an event of any chaos to prevent recurrence of such unfortunate circumstances.
