Samira Bawumia cuts sod for the construction of Ashanti NPP office complex (Photos)

The Second Lady, Hajia Samira Bawumia has cut sod for construction of office complex for the Ashanti Regional branch of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) at a short but impressive ceremony on Thursday April 19, 2018, Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital.

The office complex, which was at the efforts of the Ashanti regional chairman of the party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, will be situated at Dadiesoaba and when completed will contain twenty-four offices and three conference halls.

The edifice, to be named after late Baffour Akoto, father of Food and Agriculture Minister, Dr. Akoto Afriyie, will help the regional executives to carry out their activities to free them from rented apartments since the founding of the party in the region that comes with high cost.

 

In cutting the sod, Hajia Samira Bawumia pledged her support for the construction of the building and called on party faithful to remain calm as the government is putting things in order for the creation of more jobs to improve their live for the development of the country.

Addressing party supporters and other dignitaries, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, said it had always been his dream to find a permanent office for the party in the Region and called on them to work hard to win more votes during the 2020 general elections.

“Even though the party is in power, there are more to be done to project the good works of President Nana Addo Dankwa AkufoAddo, we shouldn’t be complacent, the time to campaign for 2020 elections is now and I urge all of you to get involve,” he said.

Ashanti Regional Minister Hon. Simon Osei Mensah, addressing the crowd, pledged his support for the project and urged various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) and other well-doing party members to support the initiative.

The Acting National Chairman for the NPP, Freddie Blay commended Chairman Wontumi for taking such bold steps to enhance the activities of the regional executives and tasked other regions to emulate.

Prominent appointees who graced the programme include the Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Frema Opare, former Defense Minister, Dr.Addo Kuffour, NPP Members of Parliament in the region.
