Anas Boy Murder: 13 suspects questioned, one on remand – CID

Thirteen suspects have been questioned with one on remand with regard to the murder of investigative journalist Ahmed Hussein-Suale, the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, DCOP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah has said.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, 2 April 2019, DCOP Addo-Danqauh said: “Through an eyewitness, we’ve been able to come a long way. Unfortunately, I’m unable to provide the details of what we’ve gathered so that we don’t compromise the investigation. We’ve gone far. In the course of this investigation, 13 suspects have been questioned, one is currently on remand assisting us in our investigations. And the 13 people questioned include Anas and Honourable Kennedy Agyapong. Other leads are being followed.”

Hussein-Suale, an associate of undercover journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas was murdered in Accra on Wednesday, 16 January 2019.

He was shot in the chest and neck at Madina in Accra while driving home.

He played a significant role in an undercover documentary dubbed Number 13 which exposed rot in football administration in Ghana and Africa.

The documentary led to the suspension of over 40 referees in Africa and the resignation of Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi.
