KMA embarks on clean-up exercise ahead of 61st Independence celebration

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has said there would be a massive clean-up exercise in Metropolis ahead of 61st Independent anniversary on Saturday, March 3, 2018.

The exercise forms part of the National Sanitation Campaign Day. It called on shops, markets and other commercial activities to halt all activities and remain closed between 7am to 11am.

To this end, all Sub Metro Councils are directed to work within their areas of jurisdiction, the statement added.

In a statement issued and signed by the Public Relation Officer (PRO) for the KMA, Mr. Godwin Okumah Nyame, it called on “residents, departments and agencies, corporate organizations, markets, drivers, opinion leaders, traditional authorities, teachers, students and pupils to come out with their cleansing tools to clean their respect communities, places of work, homes and surroundings.”

“The KMA has therefore selected Subin-Valley, Pampaso, and frontage of the central market as well as Central Business District (CBD) as major operational areas,” the release said.
