Asokore Mampong: MCE allegedly attacks Assembly Members with “macho men” during meeting

Some Assembly members in the Asokore Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti region are accessing their Municipal Chief Executive Hon Alidu Seidu for allegedly attacking them with heavily built men during Assembly meeting on Thursday December 17, 2020.

According to them, they were attacked by about 50 heavily built men after they questioned and insisted that the MCE account for some missing street lights that were supposed to be given to their respective electoral areas.

One of the seven attacked victims, Hon Kwame Nkrumah Arthur , Assembly Member for Sepetinpom Electoral area in an interview with OTEC News’ Kwame Agyenim Boateng expalined that they were subjected to severe beatings.

Two Members of the Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly have been rushed to the Manhyia District Hospital after unknown men allegedly attacked them during a meeting at the Assembly’s building.

“We had to took cover when the heavily built men invaded the assembly hall to ostensibly attack us”

“All Seven assembly members who stood on ground to demand for the where about of the over 700 street lights during the meeting were attacked by the men”,He noted.

The assembly for Aboabo Number One Electoral, Hon Mubaric Adamu who suffered some degrees of injuries accused the MCE for instigating the men to beat them.

Other honourable members who are beating includes the assembly Member for Aboabo Number Two Hon Yussif Iddrisu , Assembly Member for Aboabo Extension, Failsal Dauda , Assembly Member for New Zongo, Hon Alhaji Bawa, Assembly Member for Adukrom , Hon Abdul Rashi and Assembly Member for Akwatia Line , Hon Ahmed Ali.

Two of the Assembly members who sustain severe injuries were given police forms by the Asokore Mampong Police Command and are receiving treatment at the Manhyia Government Hospital.

Police in the area have however launched investigations into the matter.
