Kumasi: Willing Ways Foundation treats 14 Drug addicts

Some 14 known drug addicts have received free treatment and rehabilitation from Willing Ways Foundation Ghana.

The initiative which was a collaboration between the Seventh Day Adventist (S.D.A) Church – Amakom Branch and the Willing Ways Foundation center forms part of their social responsibility and putting God’s words into reality.

The said 14 Drug addicts who were selected from the various ‘ghettos’ in some parts of Kumasi received series of therapies and detoxification at the rehabilitation center for 3 months.

Speaking at a mini send off party held for the addicts at the rehabilitation center, founder and leader of the Willing Ways Foundation Madam Lydia Abena Manu lauded the Amakom S.D.A for their kindness and efforts of supporting drug addicted persons and called on other religious bodies to emulate as doing so exhibits the true work of God.

She however called on Ghanaians and the Government to support with treatment of drug addicts and mentally deranged as they are gradually becoming a threat to our community. According to her, such persons could be treated and transformed back to normal if the needed attention and love is shown to them.

Leader of the Amakom S.D.A Church delegation who championed the initiative, Elder Abraham Kwesi Kwarteng also called other churches and individuals to support Willing Ways Foundation in the fight against drug addiction which has become one of the causes of most mental illnesses in the country.

Willing Ways Foundation is a Non Governmental Organization which serves as a rehabilitation center for drug addicts, alcoholics, the mentally deranged and it is based in Kwamo in the Ejisu Municipality of the Ashanti region.
