Residents of Bomso and Anloga in the Oforikrom municipality of Ashanti region have appealed to the municipal assembly to replace the footbridge on the River Sisi, that links up the two communities, with concrete bridge to make accessible it vehicles.
They said the replacement of death trapped iron-structured footbridge will also serve as an access route for vehicles from the Anloga to Tech, via Bomso, to ease traffic congestion on the Anloga-Tech road.
The residents this in an interview with Otec News’ reporter Isaac Nsiah Foster on Tuesday, August 2, 2019, morning on Otec Fm’s new programme ‘Asanteman Nkwan’, on project called ‘Operation Fix Our Roads’ (#OFOR), hosted by Captain Koda.
‘Operation Fix Our Roads’ (#OFOR) is a project initiated by Otec FM in collaboration with Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), to fix bad roads in the Ashanti region.
The residents said they have to spend several hours in reaching other community, a distance they can use few minutes to cover, but had to long alternative route because of the destroyed bridge.
“A complete house was raised down during fire outbreak at Gao area in Anloga community because of the delayed by the fire service personnel due to huge traffic on the Tech-Anloga stretch,” a resident bemoaned.
Obaapanin of Bomso, Nana Abrafi II, appealed to government to fix the bridge so that other road users of Oforikrom-Tech stretch on Kumasi-Accra road can use it to avoid huge traffic to save people from endurable traffic.
The Member of Parliament for Oforikrom constituency, Hon. Dr. Emmanuel Marfo, when contacted said he has notified both the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly and the Ministry of Roads, and believed the situation will soon be fixed.
