Ya-Na grateful to Asantehene for restoring peace at Dagbon

Ya-Na Mahama Abukari II, the Overlord of Dagbon, on Wednesday, led a high-powered delegation to pay a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace, Kumasi.

The visit was to express the gratitude of the chiefs and people of Dagbon to the Committee of Eminent Chiefs, led by the Asantehene, which successfully brokered peace in the area after about a 16-year feud in the area.

The historic resolution of the matter in 2018, brought an end to the over a decade stand-off between the two feuding royal gates – Abudu and Andani, which stalled development in the area.

“We are overwhelmed by your support and assistance in the mediation processes that helped to bring a lasting peace for the benefit of the people,” the Yo-Na, Yakubu Abdullai, Spokesperson for the delegation, noted.

“There were lots of challenges and controversies along the way due to the stance taken by the feuding factions. However, with your traditional wisdom and knowledge, you were able to restore peace. We are grateful for this painstaking effort,” Yo-Na Abdullai said.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu said the people should give the new Ya-Na all the support he needs in order to succeed in his endeavours.

They should work together as one people with a common agenda for accelerated growth in the Dagbon area since unity was strength.
