Mothers Day Report: Poor widow receives support following OTEC FM’s report

What could force a widow and her six children to sleep outside with their belongings at the mercy of rain and high scorching sun?

While the answer to this query my be countless and the agony implacable, that was the reality of Madam Mercy Acheampong and her six children when OTEC News visited her on mothers day on Sunday May 8,2020, at Atwima Tachiman in the Kwadaso Municipality.

The poor widow who is a native of Atwima was struggling to find a place of abode for her six children after she was thrown out of their previous home by a pastor who gave it to them.

The widow in an interview with OTEC News reporter Kwame Agyenim Boateng on OTEC FM’s flagship program ‘Nyansapo’ hosted by Captain Koda said she started taking care of the six children seven years ago after loosing her husband.

She has since lived in an uncompleted buildings with her children after failing to rent a room due to financial problems

With no work or source of income the possibility of breaking the trend looks break from the get-go.

This story is a reflection of a poor widow and her six children who lived in abject poverty.

Following the airing of her plight by OTEC News , their frustration caught the attention of philanthropist who stepped in to provide her with free accommodation .

Madam Mercy Acheampong during the live interview with OTEC News said she was previously selling avocados and plantains and would need 1000 Ghana cedis to start again

Although cash support and other remittances went to the widow, a renowned contractor in the country Emanuel Boakye Fapem also provided the widow with an undisclosed capital which is more than the amount she requested to start a new business to support her kids.

The host of the Nyansapo Morning Show Captain Coda presenting the money to the widow said he will continue using his huge platform in line with the visions of OTEC FM to help the vulnerable in society.

She called on the widow to manage the capital well in order to support her children in years to come.

Madam Mercy Acheampong thanked the Management of OTEC FM, Emmanuel Boakye Fapem and the listeners do the support.
