Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, flag-bearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has visited the family house of the late Kumawu Member of Parliament (MP), Philip Basoah to commiserate with the family.
Describing the late MP as a his younger brother, Mr Kyerematen said he was fully aware of the activities of the late MP.
He disclosed that the late MP constantly briefed him about his movements and happenings in Parliament as well as private life issues.
“I can fully understand the hurts and sadness in this house, in the NPP as well as the whole country but I just want you to know that God allowed this to happen and I pray he finds a way to console all of us”, Mr Kyerematen noted.
Family Head:
Lawyer Asiedu Basoah, Family Head and Elder brother of the late MP said the family was grateful that Mr Kyerematen had found a way and time to come and console the family especially the grieving mother and Kumawu residents.
The death of the late Philip Basoah, he noted was a big blow to the family, adding that they were yet to come to terms with same.
He mentioned that the one week traditional rites for the late MP would be held on the 27th day of April.
“The family has met and decided that the one week rites should be held on the 27th day of April, 2023 and we believe by that time we would have settled on the final date for the burial and funeral of our late brother and MP”, the family head stated.
Former Member of Parliament:
Speaking to the Media in Kumawu, Hon Collins Owusu Amankwah, former Member of Parliament for Manhyia North and the Ashanti Regional coordinator for Alan Kyerematen Campaign said he was saddened by the death of someone he called a brother.
He said he knew the frustrations the late MP had being going through since becoming MP for Kumawu.
Despite this, Mr Amankwah said the late Philip Basoah was committed to working for the NPP and the constituency and did so even at the expense of his health.
“It’s really a sorry sight seeing all of us gathered to mourn someone who was humane to be treated in such a bad manner and for me I am comforted that he knew God and would be in a good place now”, the former MP stated.
