The Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has presented GHC 20,000 each to the bereaved families in Ejura in the Ashanti region following the killing of three persons by the military.
Dr Bawumia and the National Chief Imam Sheik Nuhu Sharabutu visited the families on Friday July 2. indicated that families of the three deceased, received 20,000 cedis each while three other families of those who were injured got 10,000 cedis each.
Addressing families of the victims at Ejura on Friday July 2, 2021, Dr Bawumia said he visited them to mourn with families of two young men who were gunned down by military personnel deployed to control a protest which had broken out in the area following the killing of a known social media activist and #FixTheCountry campaigner Ibrahim Mohammed aka Kaaka.
Dr Bawumia together with the National Chief Imam Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharabutu led a delegation comprising the National Security Minister Albert Kan-Dapaah among others to Ejura Sekyedumase on Friday to commiserate with the bereaved families.
Six persons were injured while they fled the scene but two were at the receiving end of the live ammunition discharged by the military personnel.
Dr Bawumia during his visit condemned the Killings and called on Ejura youth to calm down for police to investigate the matter.
He assured the bereaved families that government investigate the issue thoroughly to ensure that perpetrators of that heinous act are brought to book.
Meanwhile, the three persons who were arrested in connection with the murder of Ibrahim Alhassan Anyars (Kaaka) have been remanded into a police custody by the Asokwa District court in Kumasi.
The presiding judge Akua Adu Boahen was convinced after the prosecutor Chief Superintendent Kofi Blagodzie prayed the court for more time to investigate the matter.
The suspects, Issaka Ibrahim aka Anyars,Fuseini Alhassan, and Iddi Mohammed who is the brother of Kaaka appeared at the Asokwa district court 1 at around 10:30am Friday July 2.
