“Dubai burgars” Asante Kotoko goes top as they leave Dreams FC Dreaming in ‘No man’s land’

Kumasi Asante Kotoko got their 2021~22 Ghana Premier League season underway with a flying start.

Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, new head coach of Asante Kotoko fc handed striker Samuel Boateng, Stephen Amankona, Joseph Amoako and Richmond Lamptey their official debut.

With concerns raised over their below par friendly results from preseason in Dubai, many expected them to look shaky and jittery.

It wasn’t surprising that they looked nervous from the start of the game until they had warmed themselves very well into the game.

Kotoko took charge of the game and started exchanging passes in a scintillating fashion.

Midfield dynamo Salifu Mudasiri had a commanding presence and dictated the pace of midfield action.

Brazilian Fabio Gama got a standing ovation with a banana curling shot in the fourteenth minute but goalkeeper Solomon Agbesi made an equally good save to keep the game at deadlock.

Six munutes on, goalk犀利士 eeper Razak Abalora was at his best to deny Mohammed Suleman the opener.

Lamptey was the first man to go into the books of young and enterprising referee Selorm Yao Bless for a cynical tackle.

Christopher Nettey’s long range shot was parried away to safely by Agbesi in the 40th minute, ending the first half at stalemate.

Black stars wonderkid who made his debut for Dreams FC was the chief tormentor for the Asante Kotoko defense.
He lighted the Accra sports stadium 🏟 with a sweet solo goal dancing his way through the kotoko defense as if they never existed in the 63 minute.

Asante Kotoko who did the double over Dreams FC last season had a daunting task to put smiles back on the faces of their teeming supporters present and across the globe.

Dreams could have made things worst for Asante Kotoko but Kotoko had the post coming to their rescue from Adamu Mohammed’s shot in the seventy-forth minute.

Issac Oppong nicknamed Assuom Messi was brought on for the remaining sixteen minutes, and what a change it proved to be.
His first involvement saw Samuel Boateng connecting beautifully from his pass but the goal didn’t stand as it was ruled for offside.

In the eighty-third minute, captain Ismail Ganiyu had his thunderbolt saved by Agbesi who was enjoying himself in afternoon.

Asante Kotoko’s leveler was coming as they were creating decent chances. In the 86th minute, Mudasiri bailed them out by finishing a beautiful combination in the opposition box.

Two minutes later, Isaac Oppong whose introduction changed the game turned the game on its head by giving Asante Kotoko SC the lead.

Richmond Lamptey completed the comeback with his trademark long range shot to give Asante Kotoko SC all three points

Asante Kotoko for the first time since the beginning of last season will be playing at their favorite Baba Yara sports stadium against Bechem United on Sunday 7th November, 2021.
