My First Day At School Observed Across The Country

The Deputy Minister for Education, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour has charged all parents to ensure that they complemented the government’s effort at promoting the development of education by ensuring that all their children and wards go and stayed in school.

He explained that although the government was doing everything possible to ensure that all children had access to quality education, there was the need for all and sundry to do their part by providing their children with their personal needs to ensure that they stayed in school and study for their own good.

Rev. Fordjour announced this on Tuesday when he welcomed newcomers to school during the ‘My first day at school’ ceremony at the Tema School Complex.

The Deputy Minister was accompanied by the Greater Accra Regional Director of Education, the Tema West Municipal Chief Executive and other officers.

The team presented assorted teaching and learning materials to all the kindergarten one and Primary one kids who had just gone to school to enable them to start their new academic work well.

He emphasized that putting children in school was the best approach to ensure that they had a bright future as well as promote the rapid socio-economic development of the country.

The Deputy Minister said, “We want to ensure that as part of an effort to attain the tenets of sustainable Development Goal 4, we want to ensure that everyone has the quality and equitable to education, regardless of their socio-economic background”.

Again Rev. Ntim Fordjour said, “we’re encouraging all stakeholders, particularly parents to encourage their children to go to school, no child should be left behind “.  Rev. Ntim Fordjour mentioned

Improved infrastructure

The Deputy Minister who is the Member Parliament for Assin South in the central region stated that everything possible was being done to ensure that to expand classrooms to decongest schools which are congested as well as the construction of new projects new ones to ensure that many students could be enrolled into schools.

According to him, the Ministry is constantly repositioning the educational system to ensure that educational quality continues to improve.

The Greater Accra Regional Director of Education, Mrs Monica Ankrah, urged teachers to show more commitment and dedication to their work to promote the development of education in the country.

She also charged heads of schools to intensify their supervision at all times to ensure that teachers stayed in schools and also make good use of their instructional time to enhance effective teaching and learning.
