KNUST names OTEC FM as the best media firm in Development Advocacy in Ashanti Region

The Kumasi based media firm, OTEC 102.9 Fm has been adjudged as the best media in Development and Planning Advocacy in the Ashanti Region by the Department of Planning at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. 

The honour is in appreciation of the station’s consistent dedication and commitment to protecting Ghana’s natural environment through persistent advocacy.

The renowned media firm on Friday July 14, 2023, received the award at a symposium organized by the Department of Planning at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) as the students and faculty members gathered to witness the celebration.

The event which was held at the College of Science Auditorium recognized OTEC FM’s contribution to the development of the region.

Presenting the Award to the Leadership of the one of the most listened radio station in   the region, the Head of the Department of Planning, Prof. Clifford Amoako  applauded OTEC FM for their Constant and consistent education the populace on the need for coherence planning in our communities . 

“The Planning Department at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has been at the forefront in planning, education, practice and development sensitisation in Ghana as such have engaged major stakeholders in the region”

He commended   the Management of OTEC FM for their steadfastness, sacrifice and ensuring accurate reportage on issues relating to development planning aimed at maintaining the status quo.

As part of our development engagement with various stakeholders in the development arena, we have identified your media house as an important partner in development and planning Advocacy in the region.

“The development orientation of your programmes as well as your engagement of experts on relevant topics in urban land use planning cannot be over-emphasized”. A citation presented to the media firm said.

The Director of OTEC 102.9 Fm David Addai the CEO for the Station and Nana Opoku Agyeman after receiving the award said they are grateful to the management of KNUST for the recognition.

The CEO noted that, the firm is committed to setting agendas that will give out accurate information and educate the public on issues the physical development of the region.

He dedicated the award to the entire staff of the company and commended them for their hard work.
