Man, 30, electrocuted after climbing a high tension pole in search of Crow eggs at Buokrom

A man believed to be in his mid-30s has been electrocuted after climbing a high tension pole in search of Crow eggs at Buokrom in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti Region

The deceased, identified only as Sena reportedly died after coming into contact with one of the active wires on the high tension

Speaking to OTEC News reporters Kwame Agyenim and Dominic Owusu Answer Walasty, some residents in the area said the incident occurred on Wednesday December 6, 2023 at about 5:00 pm.

The Unit Committee Chairman for the area, Mr Fuseini Farrisu revealed that, nobody was in closed proximity to stop the deceased from  climbing  the high tension, adding that, it was until the deceased had getting to the top of the pole some men in the area arrived at the scene.

He added that, residents who were under the pole managed to convince the deceased to forget about the hunt for eggs and come down but he unfortunately touched one of the wires while climbing down.

He added that, Sena was burnt by the electric power and died on the spot before he could get help from those around

The body has since been deposited at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for further investigations.
