
The Mortuaries and Funeral Facilities Agency,(MoFFA) under the Ministry of Health, has expressed dismay and sadness over a viral video showing the inappropriate handling of a deceased person during funeral rites in Asante Akyem of the Ashanti Region .

Similar videos have surfaced in other parts of the country, showing a lack of respect and dignity towards the deceased.
The Agency in a press release on Sunday June 30,2024, copied to OTEC News Desk, condemned these acts, which go against public health tenets and the solemnity and dignity of funeral ceremonies.
“Such actions are punishable by law, specifically Section 285 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act, 1960”
The press release signed by the Public Relations Unit of the Agency, urged the public to report any such incidents and commits to working with stakeholders to promote responsible and dignifying funeral practices in Ghana.
