Afrafranto Mega Walk fails to impress: Kumasi residents describe it as flop
The highly anticipated “Mega Walk” organized by the Movement for Change, led by Alan Kyerematen, failed to impress in Kumasi, with many residents describing it as a flop
Despite claims of a strong membership base in the region, the event saw a disappointing turnout, with traders in the Central Business District largely snubbing the walk.
Locals who spoke to OTEC News Reporter Jacob Agyenim Boateng on Sunday, October 20, 2024, attributed the low attendance to Kyerematen’s disconnect with the region.
They alleged that most participants were bussed in from neighboring regions, while the few locals who joined were mostly known members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
I believe the walk’s poor showing has raised huge questions about Kyerematen’s influence in the region, particularly given his failed presidential aspirations within the New Patriotic Party (NPP)”.One of the traders, Adwoa Yeboah said.
We have known from day one that, Alan Kyerematen has lost touch with the grass root and this walk is a clear testament to our suspicion”. One Eshun Addai, a trader at Adum said.
This development according to political science analysts may have significant implications for Kyerematen’s political ambitions and the Movement for Change’s credibility in the region.
