NIA Deploys Registration Officials to Basic Schools in Ashanti Region

The National Identification Authority (NIA) in the Ashanti Region has deployed registration officials to select basic schools to register pupils aged 6-14.

This exercise, which began on Monday, October 13, 2024, aimed at capturing all children in the region on the national identification system.

Speaking to OTEC News Reporter Kwame Agyenim Boateng Mr. Antwi Boasiako, Ashanti Regional Administrator for NIA, the registration is being conducted in collaboration with the National Health Insurance Authority, with support from teachers and parents.

The initiative he added seeks to ensure that all children in the region are accounted for and have access to essential services.

The registration exercise will take place in 25 districts across the region, with selected schools being prioritized initially.

The remaining schools will be registered subsequently.

He noted that, the effort aligns with NIA’s mandate to create, maintain, and promote the use of national identity cards for Ghanaians.
