Pictures: Otumfuo receives royal welcome in Kumasi after brief rest abroad

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has returned to Ghana following a brief break from official duties.

The revered monarch arrived at the Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi on Wednesday (23 April), where he was met with a warm welcome from a host of traditional and state officials.

Among those present to receive him were Nana Otuo Sereboe II, Juabenhene; Akyeamfuo Asafo Boakye Agyemang Bonsu, Asafohene; Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi, Mayor of Kumasi; and former Manhyia South MP, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh.

Also in attendance were DCOP Emmanuel Teye Cudjo, Ashanti Regional Police Commander, and Brigadier General Matthew Opoku, General Officer Commanding the Central Command of the Ghana Armed Forces.

The Asantehene had taken time off in March following a busy year of events marking his 25th anniversary on the Golden Stool, which included high-profile durbars, international visits, and state functions.

His return signals a resumption of official duties at the Manhyia Palace.
