Bekwai court jails mason 15 years for defiling four-year-old girl

A 23-year-old mason has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment by the Bekwai Circuit Court in the Ashanti Region after being found guilty of defilement involving a four-year-old girl at Manso Afedie.
The convict, Ebenezer Birikwei, was sentenced after the court found him guilty following investigations and trial proceedings led by the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service.
Court documents indicate the offence occurred on 16 April, and the case was prosecuted by Chief Inspector Eric Twum.
The victim underwent medical examination at St. Martin’s Catholic Hospital, Agroyesum, with findings presented in court as part of the prosecution’s evidence.
The Bekwai Circuit Court, presided over by Judge Isaac Apietu, handed down the 15-year custodial sentence after conviction.
