Pastor, two others remanded over alleged attempt to bury baby alive

The Bibiani Circuit Court has remanded the head pastor of Anointed Grace Prayer Ministry at Kuffour Camp, Abofrem, Richmond Akwasi Frimpong, and two others into police custody for two weeks over the alleged attempted murder of a five-month-old baby.
The accused Frimpong, 36, Beatrice Agyapomaa, 23, and Emmanuel Appiah, 53, appeared before the court on four counts following their arrest at Abofrem. A fourth suspect, Emmanuel Donkor, is currently at large.
According to prosecutors, the incident occurred on April 9, 2026, at about 10:00 p.m., when Frimpong allegedly attempted to murder the infant, Anaya Achiaa, aged five months and two weeks, contrary to Section 47 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
In addition, Frimpong and Agyapomaa have each been charged with conspiracy to commit a crime, contrary to Section 23(1) of Act 29, for allegedly agreeing to act together with a common purpose to commit murder.
Appiah, on the other hand, faces a charge of abetment of crime, contrary to Section 20(1) of Act 29, for his alleged role in facilitating the act.
The case, police say, came to light after eyewitnesses intervened at a refuse dump in Abofrem, where the infant was found alive. The baby was subsequently rescued and taken to the Abofrem Clinic for medical attention.
Police indicate that investigations are ongoing, while the accused persons are expected to reappear before the court in two weeks.
