Four dead, one injured in deadly accident at Anyinasin junction

Four people have died and one person is receiving treatment after a head-on collision between two vehicles triggered a fire at Anyinasin Junction in the early hours of Wednesday.

The crash according the Eastern Regional Ghana National Fire Service GNFS occurred around  when a Man Diesel trailer with Registration Number (GS 236-12) travelling from Kumasi to Accra veered into the opposite lane and collided with a Hyundai Mighty truck with Registration Number (GE 1913-16) headed from Asamankese to Bunso.

The impact forced the truck into nearby bushes and sparked a fire that quickly engulfed both vehicles.

Firefighters from the Bunso Fire Station, led by ADO II Emmanuel Otam Annan, arrived at  the scene to find the blaze at a fully developed stage.

They brought the fire under control and fully extinguished.

Four victims trapped in the Hyundai truck were burnt beyond recognition and their bodies have been handed over to the Police for preservation and investigation.

A female victim rescued bystanders before firefighters arrived is currently on admission at the Akim Asafo Health Centre.

Three occupants of the Man Diesel trailer escaped unhurt before the vehicle was consumed by flames.

The fire was already at a fully developed stage when we arrived,”_ said ADO II Emmanuel Otam Annan. “Our crew worked swiftly to bring it under control and prevent further damage.”

Both vehicles were destroyed beyond salvage.

The Ghana National Fire Service commended its personnel for their professionalism and thanked the Ghana Police Service for operational support.

It also cautioned motorists to “exercise caution on the roads, strictly adhere to road safety regulations, and remain vigilant at all times to help prevent such fatal incidents.”

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
