Kumasi:  Police Inspector interdicted, remanded over alleged robbery on MOMO vendor

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has interdicted Police Inspector Bright Appiah Dankwah of the Asuoyeboah Police Station over his alleged involvement in a robbery attack on a mobile money vendor in Kumasi.

The suspect was arrested by the Ashanti Regional Anti-Robbery Unit following intelligence-led operations.

A search conducted at his residences led to the retrieval of a Bruni Mod. 92 gas pistol, ammunition, and cash amounting to GHS 9,835.00.

On May 11, 2026, the suspect was arraigned before the Atasemanso Circuit Court and remanded into police custody.

He is expected to reappear on May 29, 2026.

In a statement signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit, on Monday, the Command confirmed investigations are ongoing.

“The Ashanti Regional Police Command has interdicted Police Inspector Bright Appiah Dankwah of the Asuoyeboah Police Station for his alleged involvement in a robbery attack on a mobile money vendor in Kumasi,” DSP Godwin Ahianyo stated.
