15 killed, 25 injured in fatal Peki-Tsame road crash

 Fifteen people have been killed and 25 others injured in a fatal head-on collision on the Peki-Tsame road near Peki Senior High School in the Volta Region

 The sad accident According to the Ghana National Fire Service occurred on the early hours of Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

The Ghana National Fire Service said the crash involved a Mercedes-Benz container truck, WR 1553-C, traveling from Nkwanta to Accra, and a Mercedes-Benz passenger bus, GR 3215-E, traveling from Battor to Kabiti in the Oti Region.

The Volta Regional Public Relations Officer for the GNFS ADO I Hope Bedzra in an interview with OTEC News Reporter Kwame Agyenim Boateng saud total of 40 persons were involved in the accident – 21 males, 15 females, and 4 children.

“Through a coordinated rescue operation, firefighters extricated 25 injured casualties, including 23 adults and 2 children. Sadly, 15 persons lost their lives, made up of 9 males and 6 females,”the GNFS stated.

Firefighters from the Peki Fire Station responded swiftly to extricate victims from the wreckage.

The injured were conveyed to Peki Government Hospital for treatment, while the deceased were handed over to Police for preservation at the hospital mortuary.

 The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

The Ghana National Fire Service has extended condolences to bereaved families and is urging motorists to be cautious. 

“The Ghana National Fire Service extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and urges all motorists to observe road traffic regulations, avoid dangerous driving practices, and exercise maximum caution on the roads to help prevent accidents and save lives,” the Service said.
