Ghana Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics inducts 44 new professionals, urges investment in nutrition workforce
The Ghana Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has inducted 44 graduates into the profession as part of efforts to expand Ghana’s nutrition and dietetics workforce.
The induction ceremony was held on Friday, June 19, 2026, at the KATH Eye Centre Conference Room
The event was under the theme: “A Step Into Professional Excellence And Lifelong Impact In Nutrition And Dietetics.”
The event formally recognized and approved the graduates as registered Nutritionists and Dieticians.
President of the Ghana Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Reverend Prince Baidoo, charged the new professionals to uphold high ethical standards.
“I urge the newly inducted professionals to demonstrate professionalism and integrity in the discharge of their duties,” he said.
He also advised the public, especially families of diabetic patients, to prioritize healthy eating habits and proper nutrition management.
Deputy Chief Dietician at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Mrs. Afuah Owusu Ansah, appealed to government for more recruitment in the sector.
“The sector remains understaffed compared to other health professions. KATH currently has only ten personnel serving various regions within the middle belt of the country,” she stressed.
Mrs. Owusu Ansah noted that the shortage of dieticians and nutritionists is limiting access to nutrition care, despite the growing burden of diet-related diseases nationwide.
With the addition of 44 new registrants, the Academy says the induction marks a step toward strengthening nutrition services and improving public health outcomes across Ghana.
