Kumasi: six-bedroom house gutted in Aboabo fire; cause unknown

Firefighters have brought under control a domestic blaze that gutted a six-bedroom house in Aboabo in the Ashanti Region, with no casualties reported, authorities said Sunday.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said the fire broke out near the Post Office area and was reported at about 2:55pm, prompting a rapid response from crews in the region.
Firefighters from the Asokore Mampong Fire Station, backed by personnel from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Fire Station, arrived to find the building fully engulfed.
The fire was contained at 3:56pm and completely extinguished at 4:46pm, according to the service.
Officials said the structure — described as a six-bedroom chamber-and-hall self-contained house — and its contents were destroyed.
Preliminary assessments point to an electrical fault, possibly originating from a refrigerator socket, as the suspected cause. Investigations are ongoing.
The service said its crews managed to prevent the flames from spreading to adjoining properties within the compound, averting what could have been wider destruction.
No injuries or fatalities were recorded.
