Atwima Nwabiagya: Kumasi traders’ leader nominated as next chief of Nerebehi
The Chairman of the Federation of Kumasi Traders Association, Nana Akwasi Prempeh, has been nominated as the next Chief of Nerebehi in the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal District of the Ashanti Region in Ghana Ghana’s Ashanti Region.
The nomination was announced on Friday July 31, 2026, after the community’s kingmakers successfully concluded the customary selection process to choose a new chief.
The exercise was conducted under the supervision of elders and other traditional authorities in accordance with the customs and traditions of the area.
Speaking after the meeting, the community’s spokesperson, Kyeame Kwabena Amanfo, popularly known as Kyeame Paul, confirmed that Nana Akwasi Prempeh had received the unanimous endorsement of the kingmakers.
“Out of the six candidates presented, Nana Akwasi Prempeh was endorsed by the kingmakers as the next chief of our community,” he stated.
Kyeame Paul explained that the remaining customary rites and traditional procedures would now be undertaken before Nana Akwasi Prempeh is formally enstooled as the chief of Nerebehi.
Upon his enstoolment, Nana Akwasi Prempeh will assume the traditional title as Bantamahene Apakanhene and become the chief of Nerebehi, with 12 communities under his traditional jurisdiction.
The nomination has been widely welcomed by residents of Nerebehi, members of the Federation of Kumasi Traders Association, and other well-wishers, many of whom describe Nana Akwasi Prempeh as a unifying leader with an outstanding record of service, integrity, and commitment to community development.
The community now awaits the successful completion of the remaining traditional rites ahead of his official enstoolment and installation as chief.
