Otumfuo commends IGP, Ashanti Regional Police and Special Operations team for crime-fighting efforts
His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has commended the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the Ashanti Regional Police Command, and the IGP’s Special Operations Team for their unwavering commitment to combating crime and ensuring peace, law and order across the country.
The commendation was made on Wednesday, 22nd July 2026, when the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Commissioner of Police Mr. Arthur Osei Akoto, led the Director of the IGP’s Special Operations Team, Superintendent Augustine Dawson-Ahmoah, his deputies and other members of the team on a courtesy call on His Royal Majesty at the Manhyia Palace.
During the meeting, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander formally introduced the Special Operations Team to Otumfuo and highlighted the IGP’s initiative in establishing the Team to strengthen intelligence-led policing and enhance public safety.
His Royal Majesty observed that the sustained intelligence-led operations undertaken by the Special Operations Team have contributed significantly to improving security in the Ashanti Region.
“The operations have helped in the reduction of drug trafficking, robbery, human trafficking and other criminal activities in the region.”
Otumfuo further encouraged the officers to remain steadfast, disciplined and professional in the discharge of their duties.
“Policing is a noble profession that demands dedication, sacrifice and integrity. Prioritise your safety while carrying out your lawful responsibilities.”
The Director of the IGP Special Operations Team expressed appreciation to His Royal Majesty for his encouragement and reaffirmed the Team’s commitment.
“We remain committed to sustaining intelligence-led operations to protect lives and property and to support the Ghana Police Service in maintaining peace and security across the country.”
