Ejurahene announces ultra-modern orphanage to support children abandoned from birth
The Ejurahene, Barimah Osei Hwedie II, has announced plans to construct an ultra-modern Orphanage Home in Ejura and its environs to help curb streetism among children.
The project will be constructed through the Barimah Osei Hwedie II Foundation and under the auspices of the Ejura Divisional Council.
It is expected to house modern facilities including dormitories, a health center, bungalows for teachers and health workers, a learning center among others.
The Ejurahene disclosed this during the official launch of the 2026 edition of the Ejura Yam, Sekyerene Festival, on Saturday.
Explaining the purpose of the project, Barimah Osei Hwedie II said the facility is aimed at supporting the many children on the streets of Ejura who have no parents or guardians.
“These children are our responsibility, and as Christians and Moslems, God has charged us to watch out for such vulnerable children,”. he stated.
The Ejurahene further announced that the climax of the Yam Festival on 24th October, 2026 will be used as the platform to officially launch the project and raise funds for its commencement.
“I urge all, particularly sons and daughters of Ejura both home and diaspora, to support this project because the traditional council alone cannot do it,”. he appealed.
Barimah Osei Hwedie II also called on corporate institutions and other well-meaning members of the public to partner with the traditional council to complete the orphanage.
“Let us come together to support children abandoned at birth and give them hope for a better future,”he added.
