GES to surcharge Obuasi SHTS students for destroying school property during protest

The Ghana Education Service, GES, says students of Obuasi Senior High Technical School will be made to pay for destroying school property during a protest against the Headmaster.

The Ashanti Regional Education Director, Mr. Williams Amankra, disclosed this when he visited the school on Wednesday following the attack on the Headmaster by some students.
Mr. Amankra condemned the actions of the students, describing the destruction of school property as unacceptable and a violation of school rules and the code of conduct for students.
He said GES will work with school authorities to assess the extent of damage caused during the protest to determine the cost that will be surcharged to those found culpable.
The Regional Director added that disciplinary action will also be taken against the students involved, in addition to the criminal processes already underway by the police.
He assured parents and the public that steps are being taken to restore calm on campus and ensure the safety of students and staff as investigations continue.
