Konongo-Mampong Diocese suspends Rev. Fr. Samuel Adapore indefinitely

The Catholic Diocese of Mampong has indefinitely suspended Rev. Fr. Samuel Adapore, prohibiting him from publicly administering the sacraments, celebrating or concelebrating Mass, and officiating at other liturgical services.

The suspension, which took effect on Monday, August 24, 2026, was announced in a letter signed by the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Korhogo-Mampong, Most Rev. John Opoku-Agyemang.

The bishop said the decision was taken in consultation with the College of Consultors and followed what he described as “serious acts” by Rev. Fr. Adapore.

According to the letter, Rev. Fr. Adapore, who was the Rector of the St. Anthony of Padua Rectorate at Nkwantakese, allegedly unilaterally took a leave of absence from the diocese and abandoned his pastoral ministry without legitimate permission.

The bishop said the action was in contravention of Canon 533 (1) of the Catholic Church’s Code of Canon Law.

Rev. Fr. Adapore was also accused of removing all his personal belongings from the mission house at Nkwantakese without informing or seeking permission from the appropriate authorities.

The diocese said his whereabouts were currently unknown.

“As of now, he has blocked all access to him, and his immediate family members have maintained that none of them knows his whereabouts,” the bishop said.

The suspension, known as suspension a divinis, means Rev. Fr. Adapore is prohibited from exercising specified public functions of the priesthood, including publicly administering the sacraments and officiating at liturgical services.

The bishop appealed to the clergy, consecrated men and women, and members of the Catholic faithful to pray for the suspended priest.

The suspension took effect immediately on August 24 and will remain in force indefinitely, according to the diocesan statement.
