Man, 25, tied, bagged and hacked with machete over fake gold at Asikam

A disturbing video of a group of young men hacking another man with machete has surfaced online, sparking outrage and calls for the arrest of the perpetrators.

In the video, the men are seen covering the victim’s head with a sack, tying his hands, and subjecting him to severe beatings.
The video also shows the victim bleeding profusely after sustaining machete wounds.
The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Ibrahim Hayford from Asikam, near Subriso in the Ahafo Ano North Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
Speaking to OTEC News reporter Kwame Agyenim Boateng, the victim’s sister, Abrafi, said her brother had accompanied a cousin to a gold buyer to sell gold, unbeknownst to him that the gold was fake.
She explained that after the buyer tested the gold and discovered it was fake, the cousin who brought the gold bolted, leaving Ibrahim behind.
She alleged that the buyers arrested Ibrahim and beat him to a pulp, leaving him in critical condition.
Abrafi added that the matter has since been reported to the Police at Tepa, but no arrests have been made so far.
She noted that her brother is currently recovering from the attack and appealed to the Inspector General of Police to intervene and ensure justice is served.
