The New Patriotic Party, NPP, has announced Saturday, 3rd October 2026, as the date for its National Executive Elections.
In a statement dated 11th August 2026 and signed by the Chairman of the National Elections Committee, Hon. Frederick Opare-Ansah, the party said the elections will be conducted pursuant to Article 10(2) of the Party Constitution and other relevant provisions.
According to the timetable, nominations will open from 17th to 22nd August 2026, with filing of forms scheduled for 23rd to 27th August.
Vetting of aspirants will take place from 31st August to 3rd September, while publication of vetting results is set for 5th September.
Appeals will be heard from 6th to 7th September, followed by NEC/NC on 10th September.
Notice of poll will be issued on 14th September.
Hon. Frederick Opare-Ansah said:
“The National Elections Committee is ready to conduct a free, fair and transparent process. We urge all aspirants to ensure they meet the constitutional requirements and deadlines.”
The Committee listed eligibility requirements to include being a known and active registered party member for at least two years, being of good character, and being in good standing with payment of dues for the past two years.
Aspirants must also pay prescribed fees and have their nomination forms endorsed by at least one member in good standing across all sixteen regions.
For the position of National Youth Organizer, candidates must not be more than 40 years old.
The statement also named the 9-member National Elections Committee to be chaired by Hon. Frederick Opare-Ansah, with Hon. Abena Osei Asare as Vice Chair, and Mr. Evans Nimako as Secretary.
Other members include Madam Oboshie Sai Coffie, Mr. Frank Davies, Hon. Anthony Karbo, Hon. Salam Ama Mpianimaa Damata, Mr. Eric Ntori, and the Ashanti Regional Chairman.
Hon. Opare-Ansah noted that members of the Elections Committee are not eligible to contest, and any member who wishes to contest must resign for a replacement to be appointed.
Nomination Fees, Vetting And Appeals Committees For October 3 National Elections
The NPP announced the full composition of its Vetting and Appeals Committees ahead of the National Executive Elections slated for Saturday, 3rd October 2026.
Chairman of the National Elections Committee, Hon. Frederick Opare-Ansah said the Vetting Committee will be chaired by former Sanitation Minister, Hon. Cecilia Abena Dapaah.
Other members include Hon. Papa Owusu-Ankomah, Hon. Salifu Saeed, Amb. Dr. Barffour Agyei-Bawuah, Hon. Elizabeth Ohene, Hon. Osei Prempeh, Hon. Joyce Opoku Boateng, Arnold Boateng, and Mr. Evans Nimako as Secretary.
Hon. Frederick Opare-Ansah stated:
“The National Vetting Committee shall be responsible for the vetting of all aspirants. It shall also recommend the disqualification of any aspirant where it determines that the aspirant does not satisfy the eligibility requirements for election as a National Officer.”
The Appeals Committee will be chaired by former Attorney General, Hon. Joe Ghartey. Members include Rev. S.K. Boafo, Anthony Namoo, Hon. George Mireku Duker, Dr. Akbar Yussif Rohullah Khomeni, Hon. Gifty Ohene Konadu, Hon. Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh, Hon. Laurette Korkor Asante, with Augustine Odei as Secretary.
According to the Chairman, any aspirant aggrieved by a vetting decision can petition the Appeals Committee, which has 48 hours to make a determination. A further appeal can be made to the National Executive Committee, whose decision shall be final and binding.
On fees, Hon. Opare-Ansah announced that nomination forms will be sold at the National Secretariat as follows: National Chairman – GH¢50,000, Vice Chairpersons – GH¢30,000, General Secretary – GH¢25,000, all other positions – GH¢10,000, and Special Wings including Nasara, Women and Youth – GH¢8,000.
He added:
“Payment will be accepted in cash or by cash cheque at the National Headquarters.
Upon payment, an official receipt will be issued before the nomination form is given.
Forms can also be downloaded from the Party’s website, but the fee must still be paid before filing.”
The Electoral Commission of Ghana will conduct the elections under the supervision of the National Elections Committee, in line with the Political Parties Act 2000, ACT 574.
Positions to be contested include National Chairman, Vice Chairpersons, General Secretary, Treasurer, Organiser, Women Organiser, Youth Organiser, Nasara Organiser and Communications Director.
The Electoral College comprises members of the National Council, National Executive Committee, Regional and Constituency Executives, External Branch Executives, National Council of Elders, the National TESCON Coordinator, and TESCON Presidents from recognized tertiary institutions.
Hon. Frederick Opare-Ansah assured that the Committee will ensure a transparent and credible process.
