Police arrest suspect in Nkawie armed robbery, manhunt for others ongoing

The Nkawie Divisional Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Francis Nsiah, in connection with an attempted armed robbery on the Hiakose–Nweneso road in the Manso Nkwanta District.
According to the Police, the incident occurred on Friday, August 7, 2026, at about 11:00 p.m. The Nkawie Divisional Operations Patrol Team received information that an armed robbery was ongoing along the stretch.
The Police in press release on Sunday signed by Jead of Public Affairs Superintendent Godwin Ahianyo said upon arrival at the scene, officers heard gunshots and saw one of the suspects fleeing into a nearby bush with a bag.
The officers pursued the suspect, and a search of the area led to the recovery of an iPhone 14 and a bag believed to belong to some of the victims.
The Police later received information that one of the suspected robbers was receiving treatment at a medical facility for gunshot wounds.
Officers proceeded to the facility where they arrested Francis Nsiah, 25, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the left side of his buttock.
The suspect is currently under Police guard and receiving medical treatment.
The Police Command said investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and to apprehend other suspects who were involved.
