Police warn motorists against using AirPods, earphones while driving or riding
The Ghana Police Service has warned motorists and riders against using AirPods, earphones or any other audio devices while driving or riding.
In a public safety announcement signed by the Public Affairs Directorate of the Ghana Police Service, it said the use of such devices on the road is strictly prohibited as part of measures to reduce road accidents and improve road safety across the country.
The Police cautioned that anyone found violating the directive could be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with Ghanaian laws.
According to the announcement, offenders may face a custodial sentence of up to two years upon conviction.
The Police further indicated that persons found breaching the directive could be detained and processed for court as required by law.
The Service urged all road users, particularly motorists and motorcyclists, to comply with the directive to avoid legal consequences and contribute to safer roads.
“Stay alert. Stay safe. Obey road traffic regulations,” the Police said.
