Florence Obinim reportedly initiates traditional divorce from husband Bishop Obinim – Report

Florence Obinim, gospel musician and wife of the leader of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, has reportedly initiated a traditional divorce from her husband after more than two decades of marriage.

The news, shared by media personality Ola Michael, claimed that a member of Bishop Obinim’s own family told him that Florence’s family had returned her “Tiri Nsa”, a traditional Ghanaian practice symbolising a woman’s intention to end a marriage.

“Are you aware that the marriage between the Obinims has come to an end? Florence’s family has returned Bishop Obinim’s ‘Tri Nsa’ to him, symbolising the end of their marriage,” Ola said.

Speaking on his show on Neat FM, Ola Michael said Florence Obinim’s family explained that they were tired of the constant disrespect, disgrace and insults, leading them to return the traditional drinks to initiate the divorce.

“What the family member told me was that Florence’s family had returned the drinks, saying they were tired of the disgrace, insults and everything else that had happened. I asked him whether, when the family returned the drinks, Bishop Obinim collected them, and he said the bishop hurriedly directed that they should take them,” Ola shared.

Florence Obinim indicated in June 2026 that she was open to divorce should her husband, Daniel Obinim, decide to formally end their 22-year-old marriage.

She made the comments after Bishop Obinim publicly disclosed his frustrations with the marriage, claiming he had reached a point where he felt scared of his wife and became agitated whenever he had to return home.

Responding to the remarks, Florence Obinim said she had done everything within her power to sustain the marriage and would not stand in the way if her husband chose to leave.

However, as of the time of filing this report, neither Bishop Daniel Obinim nor gospel musician Florence Obinim had publicly confirmed that Florence’s family had returned the traditional drinks or that the couple had initiated a traditional divorce.
