The Deputy National Protocol Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Frimpong, has disclosed that the vetting of aspirants for the party’s national executive elections focused on criminal records, dual citizenship and other issues that may contravene the constitution.
According to him, the process is not business as usual, as the committee subjected aspirants to strict standards stipulated by the party and national constitutions.
He disclosed this in an interview with OTEC News’ Dr. Cash on the Dwabrem show on Monday.
“Aspirants had to be strictly scrutinized. The party has to ensure they have no criminal records, no issues with dual citizenship and other matters that may go against the constitution,” he said.
“The committee requested their documentations, including their CVs, because aspirants must be able to convince the committee they are capable of whatever position they are vying for.”
Meanwhile, the NPP on Monday, August 31, begun vetting 47 aspirants seeking various national executive positions ahead of the party’s upcoming national elections.
The four-day exercise will run until Thursday, September 3.
The first batch to appear before the committee will be those contesting for National Chairman, General Secretary and National Treasurer.
He noted the vetting will continue as planned until all 47 aspirants are vetted for the next stage of the process.
