Volta Chiefs Sign 3 Major MOUs in China – Tech, Construction, Investment Deals Sealed in Foshan
In a major boost for the Volta Region’s development agenda, the delegation of Volta Chiefs currently on a business and investment visit to Guangdong Province, China, today signed three different Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreements with Chinese industrial giants.
The MOUs were signed in three critical sectors:
- Technology: Guangdong Welleap Information Technology Company
- Construction: Foshan Jinting Construction Engineering Co., Ltd
- Investment: SINOHUI Investment Ghana Limited
The agreements are part of a concerted effort to bring sustainable development to their traditional areas in the Volta Region and Ghana as a whole.
The project signing and cooperation ceremony was held in Foshan, one of China’s leading manufacturing hubs.
The delegation will continue to embark on other factory visits under the guidance of the Ghana Ambassador to China, H.E. Kojo Bonsu, and his able Guangzhou Consulate staff led by Consulate-General Mr. Sidney Kwesi Ellis.
The signing ceremony was led by the President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, and Business Consultant and Coordinator of the trip, Mr. Peter Ahiekpor.
Sources close to the delegation say the Chinese partners are impressed with the seriousness and vision of the Volta Chiefs, while the chiefs themselves are impressed with just three days of site visits and intensive business meetings.
The delegation noted that they will continue to make maximum use of the remaining days of their one-week visit to ensure Ghana benefits from Chinese technology transfer and massive investments.
This swift signing of three MOUs in just 72 hours vindicates Ambassador Kojo Bonsu’s earlier promise that the chiefs “will go back with joy” and demonstrates the effectiveness of his economic diplomacy drive and the active support of the Ghana Consulate in Guangzhou.
More factory inspections and B2B negotiations are expected in Shenzhen and Guangzhou before the delegation returns to Ghana.
