BoG flags 20 loan apps operating without licences

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has identified 20 mobile loan applications operating without the required licence or authorisation to provide digital credit services in Ghana.

The central bank said the applications are operating in breach of its Directive for Digital Credit Service Providers, issued in September 2025.

The operations of the identified providers violate customer data privacy, consumer protection requirements, and other regulatory standards.

The identified apps are Agile Loan, AmanaPay, CashWay, Foutou Credit, HastyCredit, InsCash, KudiNow, LendAura, Lever Credit, LoanGlide, NovaCedi, Palm Loan, PocketLoan, Rite Credit, SikaCare, SikaNow, Susu Loan, Taploan Up, Temivo Cedi, and Zatuloan.

The BoG said the operations of the identified providers violate customer data privacy, consumer protection requirements, and other regulatory standards.

It has advised the public not to engage with the unlicensed loan providers.

Banks, specialised deposit-taking institutions, and payment service providers have also been cautioned against facilitating or processing transactions for the identified operators.

The BoG said it will continue working with relevant state institutions to identify and investigate unlicensed digital credit providers and take appropriate enforcement action.

The central bank said the exercise is aimed at protecting consumers and maintaining the integrity, safety and stability of Ghana’s financial sector.

It has urged members of the public to report any unlicensed digital credit providers they encounter.
