Calvary Temple Assemblies of God donates hospital items worth over GH¢20,000 to Suntreso Hospital

Calvary Temple Assemblies of God, Bantama Branch, has donated hospital items worth over GH¢20,000 to the Children’s Unit of the Suntreso Government Hospital in Kumasi.

The donation, made on Saturday, October 3, 2026, formed part of activities marking the church’s outdooring programme and was intended to support the hospital in addressing some of its logistical and operational challenges.

The items presented to the hospital included feeding tubes, oxygen regulators, computers, hand sanitisers, washing powder, sanitary pads, toiletries, baby diapers and other essential medical and hygiene supplies.

Speaking to OTEC News reporter Solomon Nimo on behalf of the Head Pastor of Calvary Temple Assemblies of God, Bantama Branch, Reverend Michael Asare Esq., the Associate Pastor, Reverend Francis Kwabena Akrasi, said the gesture was part of the church’s commitment to giving back to society.

He explained that the church recognised the important role healthcare facilities play in providing essential services to communities and therefore considered it necessary to support the Suntreso Government Hospital.

“This donation forms part of our social responsibility as a church. We believe that the church has a responsibility to contribute to the wellbeing of society, and healthcare is an important area that requires our collective support.”

Reverend Akrasi said the new leadership of the church, under Reverend Michael Asare Esq., had a vision of strengthening the church’s engagement with the wider community through practical acts of service.

“Our new Head Pastor has a vision of giving back to society. We will continue to support institutions and communities in whatever way we can, because we believe that God has mandated us to be a blessing to others.”

He noted that while government continued to invest in the health sector, the needs of health facilities were enormous and required support from individuals, religious organisations, corporate bodies and other stakeholders.

Reverend Akrasi therefore urged churches, businesses, institutions, associations and individuals to make corporate social responsibility a priority by identifying areas where they could contribute to national development.

“We encourage churches, organisations, institutions, associations and individuals to engage in meaningful corporate social responsibility activities. When we come together to support public institutions, especially health facilities, we help reduce the pressure on government and improve services for the people.”

He assured that Calvary Temple Assemblies of God, Bantama Branch, would sustain its social interventions and continue looking for opportunities to support communities and institutions in need.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Suntreso Government Hospital, the Mother and Child Nursing Officer, Madam Francisca Adutwum, expressed appreciation to Calvary Temple Assemblies of God, Bantama Branch, for the gesture.

She said the items would contribute significantly to the hospital’s efforts to provide quality healthcare, particularly to children and mothers who rely on the facility for medical care.

“We are very grateful to Calvary Temple for this kind gesture. These items will be put to good use and will support our work, especially in the Children’s Unit.”

Madam Adutwum said donations of this nature were important because health facilities often required additional resources to complement government support and meet the growing needs of patients.

She consequently appealed to individuals, churches, corporate institutions, non-governmental organisations and other benevolent groups to support hospitals with essential equipment and supplies.

“We appeal to other organisations and individuals to emulate what Calvary Temple has done. Supporting health facilities helps us to provide better services and reduces some of the burden on government.”

The donation formed part of Calvary Temple Assemblies of God, Bantama Branch’s broader commitment to community service and social responsibility, with the church pledging to continue supporting institutions and vulnerable members of society as part of its Christian mandate.
